Flower Power

Women's entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan is developing rapidly as more and more female entrepreneurs launch businesses and develop new careers. Muborak Mukrimova is the co-founder of the first flower shop in Tashkent, Toshkent Gullari, established in 1972. As a mother, businesswoman and educator (she is also the founder of the Toshkent Gullari School), she is living proof that what one does with love is bound to flourish.

Make it stand out

Toshkent Gullari was founded by Mukhrimov Abdulaziz with a vision to bring beautiful, quality flowers to Tashkent. What began as a single flower shop has blossomed into the Toshkent Gullari Group — eight businesses employing over 150 people.

The woman who co-founded this empire never planned to work in floristry. With a background in education, she applied for a position at Toshkent Gullari and met the founder's son, who would become her husband. What started as an unexpected turn led to a deep passion for enterprise. Over time, she became co-founder of the Toshkent Gullari Group, transforming it into a multifaceted operation serving every aspect of Uzbekistan's floral culture.

The Toshkent Gullari Group Today

The Group now includes eight businesses: Toshkent Gullari (two outlets offering fresh-cut bouquets), Toshkent Gullari Premium (exclusive arrangements), Toshkent Gullari Plants (indoor greenery), Toshkent Gullari School (professional floristry training), Toshkent Gullari Wedding (specialized décor for Uzbek weddings), in-house production facilities, Toshkent Gullari Business (wholesale operations), and Toshkent Gullari Decor (home accessories).

Together, these businesses form a comprehensive ecosystem serving every floral need — from a single bouquet to large-scale event décor, from professional training to wholesale supply.

Looking to the Future

Her vision extends beyond Tashkent's borders. "My goal is to advance the art of floristry in Uzbekistan and highlight our floral culture on the international stage."

Plans include publishing books documenting Uzbek floral traditions, introducing advanced courses for professional florists, and opening branches in other cities. The aim is cultural preservation and innovation — ensuring that Uzbekistan's unique approach to floristry is recognized globally.

"I am dedicated to elevating floristry locally and globally," she concludes. Through education, publication, and expansion, Toshkent Gullari is ensuring that the next generation inherits not just a business, but a living tradition.

Running eight businesses while maintaining personal well-being requires constant adjustment. "True balance is elusive because life demands constant adjustments. I view life as a long-distance journey — sometimes I prioritize work and late nights, at other times I focus on family and personal needs. The key is maintaining healthy boundaries and shifting priorities as needed."

She credits her journey to family support. "The unwavering faith and support of my parents have been the foundation of my journey. Their constant presence and encouragement have empowered me to pursue every dream and overcome every challenge."
