Miniature Global Debut
On December 18, Tashkent hosted the presentation of a new art book on Uzbek miniature painting — a project that has now entered major international book platforms. For Dinara&Co, bringing this edition to the global stage became a journey unlike any other.
The richly illustrated English-language book “Miniature Painting in Uzbekistan: Strokes of Wisdom” has been officially listed on several leading global retail platforms since December 8 — including Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes & Noble, as well as galleries and art boutiques across Europe and the United States.
This marks a new milestone: Uzbek miniature art has entered the global trend of “reading art,” reaching an entirely new international audience.
Entering the World’s Largest Distribution Networks
The publication sets a new precedent for Uzbekistan’s publishing industry. Joining global distribution networks requires strict compliance with international standards: major bookstores work exclusively through established distributors, while global chains accept books only from publishers with a verified professional history, strong reputation, and consistent production quality.
During a meeting with Neil Titman, Director of British publisher Kulturalis, Dinara&Co founder Dinara Dultaeva presented the company’s catalog. Impressed by the standard of the publications, Titman invited Dinara&Co to collaborate on international distribution and marketing for the new miniature art book.
Three Years of Crafting a Global Project
Since then, Dinara&Co has expanded its international presence through major book fairs and long-term partnerships, shaping a distinctive approach to publishing that celebrates Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage.
With the support of Kulturalis, the project secured representation from two of the world’s largest distributors — ACC Art Books and Simon & Schuster.
A preview of the book at the Frankfurt Book Fair drew strong interest from industry professionals, reflecting a rising global enthusiasm for Eastern artistic traditions.
Art, Wisdom, and Vision
The book took three years to produce, inspired by the creative vision of Bukhara miniaturist Davlat Toshev. His goal was not only to document the evolution of miniature painting but to reveal the wisdom and philosophy embedded within this enduring art form.
“Creating a book of true international quality is a long and challenging journey. We collaborated with the creative agency Golden Minds on design, organized multiple expeditions to Bukhara, and brought in Italian writer and editor Rolando Montecalvo — PhD in Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and former editor at Oxford University Press and Penguin Books,”
The book showcases the work of Davlat Toshev and other Uzbek miniaturists, highlighting the diversity of artistic schools and contemporary styles. It positions miniature not as a relic of the past but as a vibrant visual language for today’s world.
