Eternal City
Located within the Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Centre, the Eternal City Ethnographic Park offers visitors an immersive journey into the history, culture, and traditions of Uzbekistan. Designed as a living reflection of the ancient Silk Road, the complex recreates the atmosphere of historic Uzbek cities through architecture, craftsmanship, cuisine, and cultural performances.
Spread across more than 17 hectares, the Eternal City brings together the spirit of regions including Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, Tashkent, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and Karakalpakstan. Walking through its narrow streets feels like stepping into the pages of an oriental fairytale, where turquoise domes, mosaic-covered walls, carved wooden details, and traditional courtyards transport visitors to another era.
The park is filled with artisan workshops, boutiques, teahouses, and restaurants inspired by real historical prototypes. Here, guests can observe craftsmen creating intricate embroidery, ceramics, wood carvings, and ornamental designs while preserving centuries-old traditions. The lively bazaar atmosphere, inspired by medieval Silk Road markets, reflects the important role trade and craftsmanship once played in everyday life.
One of the most distinctive landmarks of the Eternal City is the Afrasiab summer restaurant, inspired by the architectural style of ancient Samarkand. Decorated with historical motifs and paintings, the space allows visitors not only to enjoy Uzbek national cuisine but also to connect with the artistic and cultural heritage of the region.
As evening falls, the Eternal City transforms into a vibrant cultural venue. The open-air amphitheatre hosts concerts, dance performances, festivals, and live entertainment, creating a dynamic atmosphere beneath the Samarkand sky.
More than simply a tourist attraction, the Eternal City is a celebration of Uzbekistan’s living heritage — a place where history, art, hospitality, and tradition come together to create an unforgettable cultural experience.
