Moo-ved by Memory

The most personal collection Azukar Moreno has ever made. Designer Kamola Rustamova traces the thread back to childhood , and invites you to follow.

The Woman Behind Azukar Moreno

Kamola Rustamova is a Tashkent-based designer and founder of the brand Azukar Moreno. Trained as a costume artist, fashion designer, and interior designer, she transformed her creative passion into a business. What began as a personal space for artistic expression gradually evolved into a creative studio and brand, supported by a dedicated team and driven by craftsmanship, storytelling, and design.

Mu

The collection takes its name from a Russian children’s song about a cow grazing in a distant meadow. For designer Kamola Rustamova, however, the song became more than a simple childhood melody - it opened a path to memory. It recalls summers spent at her grandmother’s home, early mornings walking to collect fresh milk, and the quiet rhythms of life in the Uzbek countryside.

Mu is deeply rooted in these personal recollections. Rather than recreating nostalgia directly, the collection translates its emotions and textures into fabric and form. Rural landscapes, familiar routines, and the warmth of childhood are woven into the silhouettes, materials, and details. Through Mu, Rustamova transforms intimate memories into a contemporary visual language, where fashion becomes both storytelling and a reflection of place, heritage, and belonging.

The collection reflects Kamola Rustamova’s deeply personal approach to design, where craftsmanship and memory exist side by side. All textiles were produced using traditional hand-weaving techniques, while vintage fabrics and archival elements were carefully sourced and reinterpreted by the team.

Every stage of creation, from cut and construction to tailoring was developed entirely in-house. This process reflects the brand’s commitment to preserving intention and maintaining a close relationship with the garment from concept to completion. For Rustamova, fashion is not simply about producing clothing, but about building narratives through material, preserving artisanal knowledge, and creating pieces that carry both history and contemporary meaning.

Mu is now available, while its accompanying art installation continues to inhabit Navruz Park, Tashkent. For collection inquiries and exhibition details, visit @azukar_moreno_ and explore the collection at Azukar Moreno Website
